These dogs were commissioned by a colleague of mine.  The task was to make a sculptural representation of her dogs for her husband as a, Anniversary gift.  She gave me pictures of her dogs and I wired together a variety of found screws, nuts, bolts and nails to create the “skeleton” and then used found copper and steel wire to create the “skin.”

Some of my collected materials came from my aunt who was born in 1906.  She got married young and was CRAZY about my uncle. Even when he passed away when I was very young, my aunt continued to talk about him till she passed herself.  As this commission was an anniversary gift, I wanted to pass on some of that “magic” from my aunt and uncle’s marriage. Many of the small pieces I included in the dog’s skeleton were items from my uncles old toolbox.
